I went by the library to vote before work today. With all of the talk about high gas prices, mine was the only bike in the rack.

At work today someone asked, "What will you do when oil hits $200 a barrel?" There was a lot of uncertainty in our group about suggestions to bicycle, motorcycle, or use transit. The culture is so locked into automobiles that alternatives are met with indifference and skepticism. The idea garnering the most approval was to buy a smaller car. I get the impression that something else will always be sacrificed before car use is changed.
